Well, you do have more experience with this than I do! Surrounded by the near constant roar of vehicular traffic as I am I long for the peace and quiet of a snowy forest!

It was a good idea to keep the volume in the recording turned up for the scrunching footsteps. It emphasises the silence that you were surrounded by.
It's difficult to convey what a magical experience it is to be in a place like that. My suggestion would be to try to find a clear path or gap through the trees where you can see deep into the woods. That would evoke the sense of depth that you get from actually being there. Conveying the sense of silence is another matter

I enjoyed watching your video. My favorite sequence starts about 1:15 where you are entering from the left, appearing and disappearing amongst the trees. Along a similar line as R.G., I feel like the darkness in the distance is too impenetrable. Would like to have a better sense of depth. I did grow up in Colorado and can totally relate to being in this setting.
