Still having fun with my macro lens. I know not everything is in focus but the flower is very small and I am learning.
I know of what you speak. Decades ago I sometimes found, based on the light to get perfect focus of such shots with an SLR and manual macro lenses. I have learned with a digital body with a rear screen it’s not to difficult to nail the focus you want. If your body has the capability and you use the rear screen, move the focus cursor over your chosen area, then zoom in and refocus. Then all that’s left is to set the f stop that gives you the dof you want. If I’m telling you things you already know I apologize. Closeups are fun and great skill builders in my view. Have fun.
With macro, unless stacking is used, images often will have out of focus areas. That's part of the allure.

Thanks kpmac, I am learning stitching and stacking but I have not figured out how to do it with PE18. I was doing it at school with PhotoShop but they are closed right now.

Thanks pesfls, I needed my tripod but had left it home to walk around.

So looking forward to this season of capturing the beauty of both domestic and wild flowers again this year.
Snow is melting fast - some fruit trees in blossom here in the CA Sierra Mnts.

Yup. That’s a crucial tool for this realm. At least for me. Again, have fun on your new adventure.

OH - I don't leave mine home - I have what some would call an over weight burden - but I use it as a walking stick, mono pod, tripod - it kinda helps this old man navigate the outdoors.

Claytonia virginica if you are in southern Indiana - common name "Spring beauty." Very tiny and on a thin stem so it will tremble with the slightest breeze. Focusing on the anthers work best, in my opinion - hard to do hand held. I use manual focus for that sort of shot.

Thanks for looking, hope to see some of your spring flowers. Youngest daughter hails from Santa Barbara and she would send me great photos.

Thanks Mike, the wind was blowing about 15 knots and I had to wait 15-30 seconds to get each shot.
