Black and yellow garden spider. Big and scary looking, but non-aggressive. That’s a beautiful, colorful capture. Thanks for sharing.

Species of the Golden Ord Weaving spiders, yes, scary looking but relatively harmless except to other insects and common in Florida and the south, excellent photo

Yes black and yellow garden spider. It is an orb weaver, which is a large family of harmless, beneficial spider, many of which are very large and scary looking, and beautiful. It’s a different genus than the golden orb weaver though.

Haha, nothing wrong with using your cell phone! There are many cell phone photographers who could shoot circles around me even if I had the latest and greatest gear! These spiders have stopped me in my tracks many times with their size and bright colors while working around the yard.

Spiders, snakes and red headed women scare me for good reason.

A very common orb weaver spider. They are harmless but very beautiful and colorful and weave amazing webs. The only ones who have anything to fear from these amazing spiders are bugs who get caught in their webs and they will become a meal. There is no rational reason to be afraid of them.
