I am using the current shut down to clean out my closet. I have a ton of gear to sell. I have searched and seen advice that people sell here on UHH as much as the big retailers. Question - how do you manage the price negotiation, and payment versus shipment? I don't want to agree a price and ship without payment. How does a buyer trust I will ship after receiving payment.

On UHH you set the price and or best offer. I always got paid before shipping. Just like Ebay. Places like B&H they tell you the price subject to inspection. You shipand then get paid.

If you ever bought anything on Ebay it is a lot like that. When I purchased something here you can person message the person and decide on the price and then we used Paypal and just send the money as friends and not as a purchase and there are no charges, but I think you have to use cash out of your bank account instead of credit card. Somewhere along the way you just have to put some trust in the quality people you are dealing with. Good luck. The people here at UHH are top notch as is shown on how willing they are to help with nothing to gain.

If you send the money using friends you save the PayPal percentage, BUT you lose the buyer protection of PayPal and possibly that provided by your credit card company where you can dispute a charge if the merchandise is unsatisfactory - your decision if that protection is worth 3% (or whatever the charge is for your particular transaction).

34.50Be sure you know how large a shipping box is needed, USPS Priority First Class boxes are based on size. I had to ship a camera backpack that would not 4fit in the largest box and the cost was $51 parcel post. I downsized the box and sent it by UPS and it still cost $34.50.

I bought a film camera on Ebay for $21 and the shipper paid the shipping which was $24. I offered to split the shipping cost in refund, but never heard back from the seller.
