I just saw where do to people needing to stay home because of the Coronavirus, Affinity Photo is now offering a 90 day free trial in place of the usual 30 day and they are offering a 50% discount on the Affinity products if you decide you want to purchase it. This makes a very good deal for anyone wanting to try out Affinity Photo and a great deal on the price for anyone wanting to buy their software instead of using a subscription.
If you had to choose between Affinity and Luminar what would you get? I’m asking because
I haven’t used either.

I have both, but gravitate to Luminar 4 and On1 Photo Raw 2020 most of the time!! However, Affinity is also a pretty good PP software.

They are totally different products which serve very different purposes with some overlap. Try searching on line reviews which discuss the capabilities of each. For some people, getting both may be the best option.
That is a bargain. I use Affinity Photo to edit my images and I could not be happier with it.
It beats paying a monthly subscription...FOR LIFE.
It's highly rated as 'budget' editing software and normally costs $50 for just Affinity Photo. The related modules, if needed (Designer and Publisher), are separate purchases. Why is spending money on software that duplicates something you already own a good idea? GAS applies just as much for software as it does for hardware...

With our current situation, I think we will see lots of deals - the providers of things camera (and really all products) will have to do their best to be ultra competitive...especially with folks income streams and jobs being in jeopardy with the market crash/closings/restrictions, etc.
I've been using Affinity Photo in place of Photoshop for over a year. It's a good product.
I'm not a fan of their raw converter, and like Photoshop, it does not have a way to help you organize your photos. I use Capture One for the raw conversion and organization. You can round-trip from C1 into Affinity.
I also use Affinity Publisher - Another good product.

It's great postprocessing software. Not quite Photoshop but close enough and some features not found in Photoshop that make it worthwhile.

I got Luminar 4 mainly for the Aurora HDR and the sky replacement in it which works great.
I still use mainly Lightroom and then photoshop if needed but find the Luminar good add ons.

I use both and recommend you don't choose. Just buy both.
