This old farm machine sits on the lawn beside an old stone barn in Valley Forge National Historical Park. It's behind a chain link fence so can't get many angles.

With all that hose, it sure does look like some kind of a gas powered, portable pump. But then why the apparent tank that it sits on? Fuel for the engine? Seems like a lot of fuel for such a small engine.

Interesting for sure.

A very primitive fire extinguisher or fire truck? It could be hauled into place by pulling on the front handles.

Interesting that it looks like it still gets used.

To my knowledge, only farming currently done on this site is haying and that is taken care of by someone not associated with the park. This thing has sat is place for at least three years or so, since I have been walking on the farm.

We had a lot more modern tool like that for spraying blackberries (they are one of Australia's worst weeds), on our farm.
