This image is mostly based on a mildly manipulated negative from my collection of such trivia. The envelope says it's 1924 and I have no reason to doubt that - the central barge, Magnetic, was built in 1910, and was skippered by one T Greaves. Apparently it was still working in 1979 and had a payload of 200tons. The scene is almost certainly The Ouse at Hull, Yorkshire. It plied its trade, transporting sand and the like between Hull and Selby, entirely on The Ouse.
Peaky Blinders were a Birmingham (UK) gang that were not to be messed with - there is a very violent series available on Netflix that graphically shows us just what it meant to upset with them. I was meant to be on a Blinders photoshoot on a wharf in an open air museum (Blists Hill) this Saturday but will miss it as I'm confined to quarters due to age and coronavirus. The image is compensation.
For the image I effectively moved the bottom up some, then added the two figures (Harry and The Hanger) from a photoshoot I did last November. The negative is in poor condition as you see. I have removed some distracting scratches and then made a brush from a portion of the neg to replace the general grunge where it had disappeared with the scratches and, finally added a border from Topaz. Your thoughts and critique appreciated.
I've used a png file as UHH seems to like them but its come up a bit dark - it will brighten if you download.
Really nicely done. Kind of fits the mood of the world right now.

Creative but fits our gloomy times. The poor condition negative adds to the image.
What a treasure trove you have with those negatives, Dave. The work here is very strong IMO, but too bleak for my currently fragile psyche.
I posted a sun (at sunrise) for editing: happy colors to take one's thoughts to a more optimistic place

Yes, but I didn’t mean to make you feel more gloomy, it was just my way of acknowledging a missed photoshoot! Thanks for commenting Stan.

Ah, sorry about that a Linda, thought you were made of stronger stuff!🥴 Look on the bright side - your encouragement with brush making actually had me making one go to complete the image.

I suspect he was shot then hooked up there as an example. Doubt he was lynched, it’s just not their style.
Like they have any...STYLE? Wow! Dramatic image, good BAD WORK! If ya know what I mean...................RJM

Thanks RJM, I know you haven’t ‘enjoyed’ it as such, but you’ve found it worthy of comment so that will do me. Do you get the Peaky Blinders series where you are? My wife asked what the hell I was doing watching it the first time I put it on!

Similar here, a lot of rubbish.
This one certainly gives a gut reaction, Dave! The grunge, emphasized by the B&W tones, adds to the gruesome feel. Those are complimentary comments, BTW. Your ability to create a story in your images is certainly praiseworthy. One can study this one and conjure several story lines for the characters seen in it and how they got in the situation depicted.

Thanks Stan. I’ll have to try some of my other negs - not a lot else to do!
