Trespassing laws are the province of the individual states and one should not assume that their states' laws are the same as any other. You need to find out what they are in your state and as always, ignorance of the law is no excuse. They are of particular importance during hunting season. Generally, if you are hunting on posted land without permission of the property owner and you accidentally get shot or otherwise injured, you can sue the property owner but it is almost a sure thing that your case will be kicked out of court based on the fact that your were committing an illegal act by trespassing and should have not been on the property anyway. Succinctly, if you don't own the land or have the land owner's permission to enter the property, stay the hell off of it.

Sorry my friend but there are a number of criminals who have been injured while trespassing or committing felony crimes who have won personal lawsuits in court. The judge did not throw the case out but found in favor of the criminal. That is our judicial thinking today in many areas.
