THIS REALLY SUCKS!!

Hi all my UGG sports friends. What the hell! Just heard that all our schools in Kansas were closed for the rest of the school year. Almost ALL activities are done also. I volunteer and shoot 15-20 events for a local city close by and all those have been cancelled also. I guess GOD is telling me to go out and shoot (landscapes, architecture, waterfalls, ghost towns, some macro work) that I have been wanting to go out and do for the last 2 years. I have done very few but would love to do these and use to sell matted prints. My oldest son says I would sell a ton of these compared to how many sport photos I sell. Of course he is my son so I don't know. Let me know how your area is coping with this crap. Like I mentioned the other day we (sports photogs) should still keep in touch with each other. Don't know how others feel about that but I would love to know how everyone is doing and what is going on in their lives. Enough of that. GOD bless you all and our wonderful country. We are still by far the best country in the world. Thanks to all.

Tom

I am going to go back and start looking for past sports photos I have on my computer. I will be like ESPN and start showing photos of events that happened a few years ago.

To the OP:
Sure it will be tough on you but a lot tougher for the kids who’ll be missing these games and events...especially the kids who’d be playing their last games or the ones who’ll miss their graduation ceremonies.

Yes! My Granddaughter is one of those, she is a high school senior this year. She is really heartbroken as she want get to walk and both her jobs she was working at are gone as management is doing everything with just pickup service. She is scheduled to start college in the fall but nothing has been decided as to what they will do. That is what some high schools and colleges are talking about, doing online classes but like my oldest son and I decided that it wouldn't work for some kids as they don't have access to the web. Libraries are close also for now so that isn't an option either. Not really sure why but our state Kansas has closed all schools high school and colleges for the rest of year. Have been out some but turning 69 in July I am being careful when and where I go. Be safe everyone.

Almost all of my sports jobs are on hold/postponed/cancelled at this point. I was planning on adding a D6 to my bag, but am now reconsidering and may wait. I am in ok shape as I have been in the retirement mode for several years and doing less. Right now I am doing nothing with photography and almost everything else. I'm bummed, but it's better than everyone being sick. I'm (im)patiently waiting for life to return to something like normal. Best of luck to all of us!

Well said Chris. Be safe to you and your family. Being retired for 9 years now I am getting really bored, but we are ok. Stay at home, go to the markets, that's it.

I took pictures of my granddaughter's soccer game this past Thursday. I'm so glad I did because I had no idea the season would be over,,,,but I got the 2020 Varsity Girls Soccer for their yearbook anyway.
