I had downloaded the free Capture One Sony Express when I got my camera. Nice, easy to use quick raw editor. With release of Capture 20, I believe they now have Sony Pro.
My question is can you edit photos using Sony Pro that are not Sony .arw files? I have a lot of old Canon cr3 and Nikon Nef photos. Would I be able to use the software on them?
Anyone have experience?

I can't find the answer on their website.
TIA

The Pro version for Sony was available in version 12 (I have it). I don't know about v20 but v12 can edit JPG. You probably cannot use a Sony version for Canon or Nikon but maybe. If you want to PM me with an example I will try it for you and let you know.

Thanks
I am going to download the trial version and try it out.

I think the Sony version will only open Sony RAW files and non raw files. I don't believe it will open any other manufacturer's RAW files.

I am not sure if you can edit jpegs other than Sony ones, but you will only be able to edit .arw raw files. You would want the full C1 Pro if you want to edit everything you listed. The Pro version, whether dedicated to Sony or the full all-camera version is an awesome raw editor. Much more capable than the Express version.

Capture one comes in 3 flavors - Sony, Fuji, and all the rest. All 3 come as either license or subscription. I have the “all the rest” version. The difference is cost. Suggest you look a little mor e closely at its website.

The restriction applies only to the raw files. You can edit JPEGs, TIFFs and other images so long as they are RGB files.

The only other restriction is that they must be 3 channel RGB files. If you have an image with only a single channel most editors will not touch it.

If you have other camera brands it's well worth the price.

Thank you !

Yes. I use it for Sony, Fuji, Nikon and Panasonic raw files. It even works with iPhone 8 raw files.

Update. Downloaded the Sony Express version, only opens Sony raw files. You can see the image of other raw images, but can’t open them. The message says, ‘read only’.
Downloaded the 30 day trial and learning how to use it. Got time on my hands.
