Last summer, I came upon these black squirrels on the American side of Niagara Falls. I’m sure my more learned colleagues on UHH are aware of such a species but it was a first for me.

White squirrels were rumored to reside in several neighborhoods in Traverse City, MI. I went out several times trying to find them - even talked to residents who had seen them, but several years ago, and not lately. They've taken on somewhat of a mythic draw for me. Black squirrels, red squirrels, and grey squirrels I've seen in abundance. Still trying to spot my first white one.
It's a good, clear capture. I enjoyed it - gives me hope to keep looking.

We saw quite a few black ones at Niagara Falls. Have not seen any down here.
