So this is getting a little ridiculous. Last few days I have been to the store to get just the basic necessities and all the shelves are empty. I was lucky to get these few items. I can understand Lysol Wipes, masks and water but WHY toilet paper. Geesh.

I agree. People are hoarding. I went to a supermarket today and there were no paper products of any kind. No TP, tissues, or paper towels. Ridiculous. In another smaller market, I saw a woman with 8 or 10 jars of peanut butter in her overflowing cart. Jeeez, leave some for the rest of us.

Can't figure the TP, but in one store near me, peanut butter and eggs were empty, soups basically picked over, I think meats were also.

Some people don't care, they just want to make sure THEY don't run out.
Hope they like peanut butter.

So glad we have a freezer and a small pantry.
Between living in Florida (hurricanes) and up north (snow storms), I'm used to keeping stuff on hand.

I think they fear a total quarantine. TP and non-perishables tend to be hoarded the most.

That's one question nobody has been able to answer, when we're expecting a heavy snowfall, people stockpile toilet paper...it's like their minds go haywire when something unexpected comes up.

no toilet paper, tissue of any kind, nor any chicken products or bottled water. My son took photos of the empty shelves and spoke of the "apocalypse" mentality of all the panicked people...

I know, especially for the elderly and parents with babies and young children.

Yes I've noticed, thank goodness they are starting to limit these now, whenever they get more in.

Isn't it just crazy, all the eggs, ramen noodles, flour, sugar, water, TP and Paper towels were gone. This is just getting out of control.

Many people just buy small amounts of TP and other paper goods to avoid having to store the stuff. Now they are freaking out over maybe being told to self quarantine and are afraid of running out. And some are buying the stuff to resell at high prices when other people run out. I saw an article about someone who had their Amazon account shut down for suspected price gouging - now they have almost 18,000 hand sanitizer and hand soap bottles. The article said they drove all over Tennessee and parts of Kentucky etc buying the entire stock of small town stores that still had the stuff.

We normally buy stuff in the discount packs at Sam's and Costco and I just got paper towels and TP the week before last so we have a couple weeks normal supply or longer if we conserve and ration ourselves - like even save the paper towels for emergency TP, we have a shelf full of old cloth hand towels and a washing machine - a bit more work than paper towels but they work. Weird thought, actually use those decorative cloth towels instead of as decoration in the kitchen and bathroom.

Maybe they think they the coronavirus will give them a bad case of diarrhea. The news media has got them in a panic.

A neighbor told me yesterday that in the local Walmart he saw two women get in a fist fight over the last roll of paper towels. There is a lot of fear in the country at this time and fear causes people to do irrational things.
