I try to avoid shopping on weekends or Fridays but the wife said we needed some stuff. First went to Costco. They were almost completely out of milk and they were completely out of rice and orange juice. Trader Joe's? Out of milk. They said they get a delivery every morning. It's sold out by noon. Went to Shop Rite and got some milk and other stuff. Paper products, out. Lots of common vegetables, out. People getting nasty. So the virus is infecting everyone, not just people that it infects.

Put photos in a later post so the thread won't be sent to the Gallery.
One might think there's a big snowstorm or a hurricane coming.

And when that food spoils at home... because they bought so much they can't possibly eat it all before it does... and they eat it anyway because they're out of money and the stores are still empty, they'll need plenty of toilet paper when they get food poisoning!

Our daughter had to go to six stores yesterday in order to find anyone who still had TP. I believe it is a problem like we normally have just before a blizzard - only now the blizzard is nation-wide. Everyone believes they may not be able to get to the store for a few weeks, so every one is putting in a supply of “necessaries”.

When I lived in Florida, starting in June we would buy some stuff each week for hurricane season. By the time it rolled around, we had what we needed. Whatever we didn't use during hurricane season, we started using when it was over. Then, got ready again next year.

The thing I could never figure out is why people bought stuff to which you had to add water. All our soups were NOT condensed, never made pasta, etc. Canned meals were ready to eat. Water could be or was at a premium.

The push for panic is a well orchestrated media operation. One of the early stories mentioned "stocking up" on necessities and included TP in the list. That was of course repeated by every other media outlet, and so the bulk buying of TP began. Then the media "reported" how TP was flying off the shelves, and cycle just reinforced itself.

A radio commentator reminded the audience this morning that to date something like 40 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19, but the press has been in "end of the world" mode for at least a week. Yet back when the H1N1 (swine flu) virus was spreading around the US in 2009, Obama went on the air and declared a national emergency with a "don't worry, no need to panic, everything will be OK" speech. This was at a time when something like 4,000 had already died, and the press was just fine with that line. (I don't personally remember empty shelves at that time. Does anybody else?)

There is definitely some political sabotage being done by the media to hype this event. They get more viewers and readers while trying to sabotage the stock market at the same time. It's a sad time when political interests come before the good of the country.

Yesterday was the first day that I experienced “panic” shopping since the start of the epidemic. At BJs, two lines of shoppers with carts full to the top stretched from the front to the back of the store, approximately 70 carts in each line. An employee fed the lines up to the cash register as openings occurred. Every one was very civil but people avoided conversation with those in front or back of them. Though everyone is on edge; someone in the aisle sneezed and people reacted as if there was a gun shot.

Saw a post on Facebook yesterday that looked like a scene from "Goodfellas". In one frame someone asked: "Why is there such a run on toilet paper?" In the next frame, someone said: "Because every time that someone sneezes, 100 people crap themselves."

I had to go to doctors office to have Some stitches removed…so I drove on to the nearby costco for gas at 9:32 am
the store is supposed to open at 10, but gas opens earlier…. the parking lot was full and people already coming out of costco….so they must’ve opened earlier… I went in to get AA batteries….there were long lines in the store at the back where soap, water, toilet paper is. I heard an announcement at about 9:45 they were out of paper towels and toilet paper…. and normally the store would not even be open yet..

One of the reporters asked Trump an ambush question. Then tried to argue with the answer. So, he cut her off. When she did her stand up at the end of the press conference, she just added in the answers to the questions she tried to get him to answer. Just made it all up.

My question is, "Ms Reporter, is your hate of Trump more important than actually reporting the facts?"

I am disgusted by the actions of at least half of the reporters.
