I post a lot of raptor photos on UHH but sunrise at the SacramentoNWR reminds me to point my camera at subjects that do not necessarily have big, sharp, pointy feet. But it is all relative, if you are a flying insect that sweet little Black Phoebe is a Peregrine Falcon!

Gorgeous pheasant shot, Phil! And lucky you with the jackrabbit. I've seen a few but have been able to get just a single shot. Very enjoyable series in beautiful light.

Thanks Linda! Given the high raptor activity I am surprised to see any rabbits and yet they are in big numbers. Probably because American Coots are the low hanging fruit. And so it goes......

Thanks Carol! I think I have taken the shot of sunrise behind the front gate of the SNWR once or twice each of the past 10 years, it is such a fine time and way to start the day.

Sally and I have established a similar tradition here at a couple of the wildlife areas and hopefully for many years to come. We are very fortunate to have a smorgasbord of critters to feed our cameras here in Florida. Thanks for altering your raptor routine and showing these!
