What I believe
I wish I could take total credit for writing this but the original was penned by my cousin’s wife Jacque Phillips. With her permission I have edited it to reflect things I believe.
What I Believe
I believe in God and in the place called Heaven and I hope I am worthy enough someday to go there. I like to think that the people I've loved, and all the horses and dogs I've loved, would be there. My grandmothers and mother, grandfathers and father, sister and aunts and uncles and cousins would be glad to see me, and I, them. We would laugh together like old times and have no worries. Everyone would be healthy and restored to their physical best, no disabilities nor problems of any kind.
There would be lakes and mountains, and fields of bluebonnets and indian paint brush, and wide blue sunny skies with white puffy cloud and never any inclement weather. There would be forests of old-growth trees with paths to walk or to ride through.
There would be singing and dancing and I will be able to run like the wind, climb a tree and do the twist and other things like I did in my twenties. There will be singers to sing along with me all the old songs I enjoy so much and I will actually be able to recall all the words once again. I would be able to speak with vietnam buddies, classmates and friends I have known, some who have gone before me and some who will come after me. And when her time comes my wonderful wife annie will be right by my side enjoying all the wonders heaven has for us to see.
There would be earthly things as well like chocolate, pecan pie, bbq ribs, texas smoked brisket and seafood in abundance, and I would weigh 160 pounds! There would be long straight roads to fly low on and helicopters and airplanes to fly high in.
There would be spacious green and golden fields full of elk, deer, antelope, wild turkey and more: their beauty highlighted by the setting sun.
No fish would be less than 20 inches, and the water would be crystal clear, and run cold and smooth for my fishing enjoyment. The air would be soft with 80 degree temperatures in the summer. There would be a conglomeration of glorious autumn colors, frosty mornings, flocks of birds would swoop and swirl, then speed south. If it snows at all the snowflakes would be big as half-dollars and melt away in a couple hours. In the spring the trees would pop with new green, then bloom with no pollen to make us sneeze or irritate sinuses.
There would be no dangerous animals, no snakes, no vermin, no spiders, no stinging insects. Fly swatters would be obsolete. When singing, my voice would be like I've always wished it to be, and I would even be able to whistle a tune well again, too
An eternity in such a place would be "Heavenly" !

At my age I would be more concerned about good pizza and occasionally about great sex!
At least the first sentence is true.

Then you have my sympathy. Choose wisely with the time you have left.
