On one morning last summer on one of my drive around photo shoots I can across a hen ring-necked Pheasant as I was taking her photo a male should up then another. There is a local hunting preserve that missed this guys. To see these beautiful birds in upstate NY is fairly rare unless your near the areas that are stocked for hunting. Nothing like North or South Dakota
They are a Beautiful Bird.. and I don't mind that they came from China.. We don't see many in the wild anymore... nice Pictures
Woodsman
Loc: North of Peterborough Ontario
Nice pictures, I dont see pics of the female very often
nice photos … I thought that they came from India, but I may well be wrong … maybe that was Peacocks? we have wild peacocks here in southeast Vermont … a student at the local wee bitty liberal arts college had a flock as part of his senior thesis, and nobody would take them when he graduated … I though that this was a b.s. story until I was working on a barn and I heard this odd noise behind me … way out in no-place - no cell phone reception, and noting at hand except a framing hammer, I turned around expecting to see God knows who and there he was … the biggest cock I have ever seen, doing the peacock display thing - you could almost hear him thinking "these are MY babes, and I won't share!!" then the tenant came up and asked what I was doing with his birds … came to find out that he (the tenant) likes to blow a bowl in the morning and give them all a few cans of dog food … he said that he hadn't seen a squirrel or rat since they moved in … looking at the beak, I can see why...
Nice shots! I used to hunt them all the time as a teenager on Long Island, but eventually their habitat became covered in cement!

Lucky shots. Every time I try to capture the ones on my sister's property, they disappear so fast, it's mind-boggling!
Has to be my favorite bird, they are so pretty. Just wish they were still as plentiful as they were when I was young in Michigan
