Everywhere I go I spot Western Bluebirds ....in Grants Pass area Southern Oregon. I love it. I have 5 of them hanging out at my feeders (Suet) for 3 weeks now.

Nice photos. Here in NJ I get the Eastern Bluebirds on my suet every year in Feb. and don't see them at all or very rarely in the spring and summer. This year I finally put up a Bluebird house on Feb. 26 and a male started to build the nest just 2 days later. I tried to get some pictures but couldn't get close enough to get a good image with my ancient 70-300 Tamron. I'm going to try to set it up closer on a tripod with a remote shutter release this week and see if I can do better. The Bluebirds also love dried Meal Worms but if you have squirrels you'll probably need to squirrel-proof your feeder.

Thanks for sharing your adventures with me Jimmy....I have the same issues...I appreciate your comments and thanks for the tips! I will try mealworms ASAP.

I have two cameras I use...these were taken with my Canon SX700 pocket zoom on a tripod & through a double pane window. In GOOD light it takes decent pics but I really like it for the 750mm EQ. zoom ability! the other is a Rebel with a 55-250 IS Zoom that takes much better pics in most conditions but you have to crop a lot! I'm thinking a 600-750 MM Zoom might be ideal. Sure is fun learning how to use what you have!
