I thought most courtrooms didn't allow photography - hence the courtroom artists.
If it is a bench trial, the attention from the photographers would not the judges attention. But with a jury and that the photographer can not cover every testimony instant unbiasedly, the jury could be affected. So no cameras removes that problem.
Any time you have something mechanical in any way, there is going to be noise. It is just an inescapable fact of life. But things are getting a lot better. My D700, which is still a fantastic camera and one that still gets use today, is a bit on noisy side, especially when compared to my D500 and D850.
During the film days, a lot of people used Leica M series rangefinder cameras out in public because they were noticeably quieter than the SLR's of the day. I love my Nikon F2A and still use it, but especially with the MD-1 installed, it is really loud. If you need to quiet with it, you must turn the motor off and raise the mirror.

I don't recall that I made that much noise when I wound film.
The F2 is pretty noisy with the MD-1 attached. I have one and still use it. The F3 was better and the F4 was the quietest I think. My F4 is measurably quieter than my F2.

That is why I wonder why the OP complain about the noise now.

I guess some people are just not happy unless they are fussing about something. Life is just too short to get wrapped around the axle about stuff that really is of no consequence in the big scheme of things. Why not worry about the big things, like
are all of the planets still circling the sun? Whenever I took my F2 out to do nature photography I simply shut off or removed the MD-1. Problem solved. When I got my F4, it was quiet enough I never bothered, not that I could do anything about it anyway since the motor was integral.
