These common waterbirds are very photogenic.
As usual, it was a gray day with lots of clouds. In addition, in this area, they are constantly burning harvested fields adding to the grayness and fouling all the air. Although it is a beautiful area, the powers that be have allowed the area to be in an almost constant state of air pollution. (Colusa NWR)

I love these. One by itself is striking. The set is amazing. Needs a gallery wall.

Beautiful, Katy. I would try them in black and white, too.

Really nice! Very appealing. I have seen a bird very similar to this along the shore here, but only that one day. I will have to dig around for my photos of it, and see if this is what it was.

Thanks, Ken. I will try it but I would miss those coral red legs!

Thanks, fergmark. They are very talkative and can be in large and small groups, here. Once we saw a group of about 10 discover a dead comrade. Each one went to investigate it separately, loudly chattering, over and over. They were very, very upset.

These are really neat shots, Katy. Love the angularity of their legs.

Thanks, Mike. I guess the grayness makes them a bit unique.
