Snowy Egret, Fishing in a Creek

Sacramento NWR. I usually look for a Snowy as we drive by this spot. The water flows under a road and drops down to creek level, flowing fairly fast. This Snowy was right in the middle of a little water fall. I never saw what it was catching but it would lose balance and reorient each time it grabbed for something. Tiny fish? Bugs?

Very, very nice subtle tones in the shadow side, plus rim lighting and gentle softness in the out of focus bubbles. Also the realistic green of the vegetation in the water adds greatly to the appeal of the scene.

Those are great. You can just smell the patience on the bird, and know what’s going to happen without seeing it. The colors are very natural, and nothing interferes with the subject. Excellent series.
