I have just scanned many color slides of my children when they were young and I want to give them a photo book of the pictures for their birthdays. I have seen a few examples of this in the past but did not get any info about where to get it done.

Can any of you Hoggers give me recommendations?

Very good quality and low price - printerpix.com. They also seem to have Groupons available that make it downright cheap ($5 per book). Go to Groupon.com and search for printerpix . I have used them for a few years now and never disappointed in the quality.

I've made a few books through Groupon, which gives you options of several companies. Mine have been through Printerpix and I would use them again, but would still go through Groupon. I stay away from the templates so I can design my own layout. As said in another post, the shipping isn't discounted, but the Groupon deal is so good, it's still a great buy. Good luck and have fun doing it.

Having done a few books, remember a few 'tips'

1) Remember to add text to the spine of the book.
2) Remember to add an image and text to the back of the book, like 'Memories from your Loving Father' or 'Photography by x,y and z'.
3) Use a variety of image sizes and page layouts through the book.
4) Spend some time adding comments about the image, the time of your lives, the subject, poetry, etc to enhance the viewing experience. But, maintain the images as the primary experience, so the text should be just a words to a sentence or few. Or, text only every few pages rather than every image.

I would also add: Include names of people who are in the photos, and when and where they were taken. Their identities may be obvious for those closest to them now, but for others, especially a few years down the road, identifying people (particularly children and relatives) will make the book much more meaningful. I have some loose photos taken by others many years ago with no identification of who, when or where on the back, so sadly they've become meaningless.

Many Office supply shops do photo printing work. We have a franchise here, Officeworks. They do them.
Most camera shops also have sections to do that also.
I’d be surprised if your Walmart didn’t do it??
