NEW CANON INKJET PRINTERS

I have been using Canon inkjet printers for a while now. Currently I have the PRO-100 and the TS9120. I notice that the newer versions of the pixma series, including the TS9521 use 5 ink tanks, instead of six and thus no longer use "photo blue", which replaced gray if I remember correctly.
Is there any significance to this change by Canon?

My PRO-100 uses 8 cartridges and none of them are "photo blue" , but does use two grays.

I have an MX-920 that has three colors and two blacks (a big and a little one).

In 2017 Canon introduced a line of printers that used Photo blue. I have a TS9020 which is an excellent printer, for normal photo printing. It still has the Gray and two blacks. The TS9120 has 6 cartridges two blacks, and no gray but the blue instead. The PIXMA PRO-10 still has gray but incorporates Chroma Optimizer. While the TS9120 and the TS 8120 use the PB Photo Blue. This current info off the Canon web site.

So now that I am completely confused, - which would YOU choose if you could only afford One Printer?
Thanks for any input!

I would choose between the Pro-100 and the Pro-10, if you are serious about doing your own printing. They're both great PHOTO printers, but the 100 is a dye ink printer and the 10 is a pigment ink printer.

Those inks have different characteristics. Dye inks render pastels better, but they fade twice as fast. (Don't worry, that's around 100 years in dark storage.) Pigment inks render saturated colors better, and they have the best longevity of any common photo printing process.

Most of the folks on UHH who print their own either have, or aspire to, the Canon Pro-100. If I were to buy a Canon printer today, for home use, that would be it.

For office use and *casual* photo prints, it would be one of the Epson Eco-Tank all-in-one printers. The ink is a lot less costly with those.

After researching those two printers, I chose the 100 and I have not been disappointed. I have a large unmounted print from the 100 taped on a wall where it receives direct artificial lighting and indirect sunlight. It's been up there for twenty or so years and hasn't faded a bit. Since I'm now 88, I suspect that I will fade faster than that print. It's a 35mm shot of a Pacific beach in Sonoma printed at 13x19. Far bluffs, beach, ocean and my wife in a blue raincoat, taken from above from a high bluff. Harry

I have the Canon Pro100 for several years and I m very happy with this printer it has 8 cartridges, I don’t recommend this but I have been using off market ink since I have it with out any issues, my photos are very clear and vivid as I like them to be.
