This is just typical of the entire "renewable energy" rage. Windmills can recover their cost of production without subsidies. Their energy output isn't enough to pay for the cost of the coke and electricity to pay for the steel. When the subsidies go away, the cost of electricity will go through the roof.
Solar panels are another problem. The panels have chemicals in them rendering the used panel unrecyclable. Then there's that other sticky problem, generating electricity to fuel the furnaces to make steel. There's just not enough KWH of power which those furnaces need. And what about the consistency of power delivery? When the sun doesn't shine, or the wind doesn't blow, no power.

I didn't know that the lobbyists for the fossil fuel industry read this forum. The panels are not recyclable but they will last for hundreds of years, so recycle is a moot point, and once the steel is made it will last pretty much forever. Consistency is a problem so you use a combination of solar, wind and water turbine.............................
and while building the systems you use clean fossil fuels.
Heaven's no. We're much better off just continuing doing what were doing which we now know will eventually (possibly pretty soon) lead to the wholesale destruction of the planet and the eradication of millions of species of plants and animals including very possible ourselves -- much better than dealing with a trash disposal problem.
Yup. Just as somebody (or somebody's CEO, or somebody's Board of Director$, or $omebody's lobby-ist$, or $omebody's $tockholders, or $omebody'$ various$ --and oh, I dunno, $omebody'$ $lightly $hady?-- $undry others) didn't "obviously" think through the myriad 'problem$' that couldn't
possibly have resulted from any waste products, or bio --for pretty much anything that lives, that is, the Earth included-- hazards, much less any such really nifty 'reclamation' regulations that've been enacted (BAH on ALL such jerb killin' "regulations"!!!1!!1!) produced by such 'efforts' --
naah, just go have somebody else pay (through somebody else'$ tax dollars, not MINE) $ome 'lowest bidder' to go bury that na$ty "it" somewhere else....$o long as its not in MY back yard, mind you!-- of any of the 19th-20th Century mainstream (a.k.a. coal, oil, gas, nuclear) industries, and its all good. Good, I tell you!
Damn those wind turbines for killing
billions upon billions of birds, anyhow! Screw that greeeen emerjy stuff! It'$ too e$$pen$ive! And don't even get me going on that evil solar stuff!
Oh, btw. There's a nice uranium mill 'SuperFund Site' --are there still such things?-- a couple miles from where I live. Want some nice pix???

As an astigmatic mammal currently dwelling on planet Earth, I have an opinion about what's going on with the environment of our planet. This is based on my personal observations, information from the popular sources (i.e. the media) and selected peer-reviewed scientific literature. Planet Earth is an inanimate object that seems to contain enough resources to support some finite amount of biomass (living organisms, both plant and animal). When the balance between available resources and biomass changes it appeares to create measurable changes in the environment. Seems to me like the primary sources of these changes are caused by an over population of humans that are over consuming available resources while creating pollution of the land, water and air that at some point in time might cause catastrophic and irreversible consequences to the environment and the inhabitants. chase

Part of the problem is that we have become used to "disposable" items. Everything from paper plates to televisions, plus more. Its so easy and cheaper in some cases to throw objects away instead of having them fixed. This boost the sales of many companies. But, it also increases the already overburdened landfills.
