It seems we have something new to be concerned about: the snakehead fish. Georgia seems to be hit the hardest, but they've been found in NY, too. I don't see any way we can stop this nasty fish. It can breath air, adapts to any kind of water, is vicious and eats all other fish, and it reproduces prodigiously.

...Hmmmm... Sounds like I met a few of those in my younger days going to local bars for pool and foosball....

These have been around for a while now. Lots of them around DC area (figures they would like it around there) and other southern and northern waters. Brought here from Asia for some reason. It is supposed to be a very tasty fish, so that may be the way to control it. We seem to do well with that on other populations of fish.

Turn the Cajuns loose on it. Blackened Snakehead sounds pretty good. So does Snakehead sauce picquante!

I am an avid fisherman and live in the DC area. The Snakehead was accidentally introduced to the Potomac River system in 2004. There was great fear that it would wipe out all the local fish. The Potomac for those who don't know is an excellent bass fishery. The reality has, fortunately, been much better. The Snakehead is caught by a number of anglers, is excellent to eat and a great sport fish. The bass are still here.
See generally this Washington Post article from a few years back: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/capital-weather-gang/wp/2015/05/15/its-snakehead-weather-a-good-day-of-fishing-on-the-potomac-river-photos/

Some commercial fisherman have taken to getting Snakehead at night with bow and arrow and selling them to restaurants.

There was a program years ago called, "The Cajun Cook" on PBS and he was a real hoot! He used a lot of wine...most of which he drank while cooking to 'test it'. There are a lot of cultures around the county however I think that the Cajun is the most endearing with very tight family units.

If the fish tastes good there are no worries, Man has a way of over hunting and fishing and they will soon be extinct.

Justin Wilson was the Cajun cook comedian, he always said the best wine was the one you had around.
