I planning a trip to Montreal & Quebec in June planning on taking mySony a900, 24-70 f2.8. Would you suggest taking my 79-200 f2.8 as well? Any suggestions for street photography and landscape would appreciated.
Thanks

We made a similar trip a few years ago. There will be plenty of sights within ‘normal’ lens reach. I never switched to a ‘long’ lens.

Agree with rehess regarding Quebec City. The old part has narrow streets, everything built together - makes for great walking and immersing yourself in the culture and sights. Do a Google image search to get an idea.

I can't recall Montreal quite as well. More open and modern, I drove around a lot. There are Canadians who are UHH members, including

We took a cruise, back in October that included stops in Quebec City and Montreal. I had my Sony RX100VII and never felt I needed more than the 200mm, eq., at the long end, nor wider than the 24mm eq., at the wide end. I think the two lenses you mention should work very well.

I should have mentioned that our hotel room in Montreal was in the Chinese Section next to the Old Section, so we were pedestrians there too - and there was plenty there to occupy our several day stay.

When you say Quebec, I assume you mean Quebec City, since the entire province is Quebec.

In Montreal, definitely go to Mount Royal park for vistas of the city. Also check out the botanical gardens, and the old city near the waterfront.

In Quebec City, almost every building in its old city is a photo op. You'll also want to catch some shots of the Chateau Frontenac and the Quebec Parliament building with it's beautiful surrounding gardens which should be in bloom by June.

Won’t need anything as long as the 70-200, unless you want to get architectural details. Remember to the cities without a viewfinder coming between you and what you’re seeing.

I lived and worked in Montreal for many years and visited Quebec City ⁸frequently. Both cities are a photographer's paradise! There is a mixture of ancient and modern architecture, great people, magnificent cathedrals, every manner of cultural and entertainment events, historical sites, ...I can go on all week! Tell me what your photographic interests are and I post a list of good photo ops on and off the beaten path! Good eats too!

Bring whatever gear you are comfortable walking around with. Wide angle, normal, and telephone glass will all come in handy for different perspectives and details. I'm sure everything you pack will be useful.
