I’m getting black lines on a 14 yr old Epson 3880 printer. Always used Epson ink and paper. I’ve done 5 head alignments and cleanings. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

After fourteen years, it may be time to get a new printer.
I would say your print head has a problem!! Either take to a repair shop or buy a new printer.
That signaled the end of the line for my 3880. I waited for a good deal and went for the P800.
I forget exactly what I paid but it was on sale, had a rebate, and a trade up allowance. The last required a photo of the 3880 with a legible serial number.
The P800 uses the same ink, has a better feed system, and has an available roll feeder. I use that for canvas prints.

It looks like this needs some disassembly and thorough cleaning - either that, or replacement.
My Epson 880 did that. The ink head landing pad was saturated. Cleaning was not guaranteed to add much more life. Got a new printer. And when you need to clean the head in the future, just print at low quality on regular paper. Uses much less ink than the Head Cleaning routine.

I think it needs a professional cleaning job. I've had my R3000 cleaned twice - very successfully.

Have you checked to see if your Maintenance Cartridge is overflowing -that it requires changing?
Could be your drum need repkacement
I had a 3880 that did the same thing. The cost of the repair is equal to a new printer plus with the new printer you will get a full load of ink.
Tighten leg on file allocation table.

The ink cartridges that come with the Epson 3880 or P800 are not full. It tells you that in the instructions. They only provide it so the printer can be set up, although there is enough left to do a bit of printing.
That's probably true of other printers. A set of cartridges for the P800 is close to $500.
