I want to buy the camera sling that attaches to the thread mount on the bottom of the camera. You can carry it over the right shoulder and the camera hangs at the left hip. I can't find it online. Any help will be appreciated.

I use a Peak Design strap in that fashion. Their Slide and Slide Lite come with a thread mount attachment and all the anchors you would need.

The Slide Lite is more than capable of supporting plenty of weight, but for heavier cameras it may get a bit uncomfortable with prolonged use. In that case the Slide works great.

Additionally, they sell an optional "dual plate" that works the same as the above, with the added bonus of doubling as a tripod mount for Manfrotto RC2 and ARCA tripod mounts.

They are handy for camera carry but I would suggest getting one that has a second safety strap that goes from the sling to the camera strap mount. On earlier posts several mentioned that the screw could work out and let the camera fall if you did not monitor it regularly. This strap would prevent it from falling.

I'm not going to make a suggestion about a strap because you have more than enough here BUT, the weak point in all of these systems is the interface (can't think of a better word) between the strap and the camera. My "interface" failed once. I went out and bought some solid key rings and a carabiner. They work and my camera hasn't fallen in six years. The photo shows my set up (a picture speaks louder than words).

You want and NEED a Black Rapid. Here are several to look at.

I just upgraded the bottom mount to a dual-plate and it's just as sturdy as the included mount, with the added bonus of not having to switch it out to use a tripod.

That is a drawback with the older system.

I purchased mine from Amazon several years ago. It has the safety strap that connects to the camera's regular strap mount post for extra security. With body movement, the bottom screw in the tripod hole can loosen. The one I bought was of good quality, but I rarely use it now. It was sometimes a bit awkward and time consuming to get the camera up to my eye for a quick shot.

Look at BLack Rapid Straps. I’ve had mine for years double and single. Great products. I always make sure the camera is securely attached to the strap.

I use the peak design in my three 5D’s and am quite happy with it. I like their technology.

If you use RRS plates for your body you may want to check out their military grade QR strap or do like I do and use just the QR with my BlackRapid straps. I think the separate QR is $12-$15.

This topic generally brings up the potential issue of the tripod thread being a weak point, with anecdotal stories of cameras that have fallen due to the socket itself pulling out of the bottom of the camera body.

I believe this problem is potentially valid, but only for the lower end cameras with plastic bodies I have been using BlackRapid as well as Op-Tech straps that are attached via tripod socket for 15 years without incident, but all of my cameras over the years have been metal.

Just something of which to be aware.
