Tamron Lens Collar and Dock for Tamron 100-400 mm lens SOLD

Really quality accessories for your Tamron 100-400 mm lens.
The collar balances the lens on a monopod, tripod or use with a pistol grip. Especially helpful when the lens is fully extended.

(I don't know for sure but the collar may fit the Sigma version of this lens.) Strike this- no place to attach to Sigma version of this lens without impeding function.

The dock is used for firmware updates and lens adjustments. It has never been used.

Asking 85.00 total for both.

Hello, “touched”,do you happen to know the interior circumference of the tripod collar? It would be easy to measure, but no one ever seems to list that important info. I’m in the market for a collar for my latest lens purchase. I need one +|- 24cm thanks for your time.....Bob Maloney, Flushing, Mich.

The barrel of the Tamron lens is 86.2 mm (according to Photography Life) and the collar fits closely to that with an adjustment screw to tighten it down. I think that measurement is as close as we are going to get- I don't have anything that measures in other than inches. Hope that helps. I will keep looking on the Internet.

The 24cm I need works out to about 9.5 inches. Does that help you with the measuring? Thanks. Bob

the closed/tightened down inside circumference is 10 inches or 25.4 cm

If it is not tightened but ends joined together the inside circumference is 10 3/16 inches

The width is 11/16

I just bought an 80mm macro FUJIFor my Fuji x-mount cameras. It is lg and heavy & no tripod collar. It does look as though one could be used if the proper size was found. I think ten inches would be just a little too big. I really appreciate yo Taking the time to help. Very kind of you. Bob

No problem Bob. Anyone else interested would like to see the measurements as well. Since the measurements are so close I wonder if you would be able to get a wide band to put around your lens barrel to tighten the collar up- something like a jar opener band? Just a thought.

Would somehow have to compensate for an entire inch(almost) I fear it wouldn't work well. Thanks again, I've always "admired you from afar". You are a genuinely nice kindly gal. I hope you continue on at the hogg. Bob

There is no way to fit a workable collar to the Sigma 100-400mm, due to the placement of the the AF and OS switch module on the barrel. There is someone in Germany who has come up with a collar for the Sigma and is making them out of plastic with a 3D printer, but it's notched to fit around the lens' switch assembly, so it only fits to the lens to allow mounting in horizontal/landscape orientation.

Bob, I just measured:

- Canon Tripod Mounting Ring A... used on 70-200/4, 200mm f/2.8 and 400mm f/5.6 lenses... it's about 8-3/4" inside diameter. This is a "hinged" design that needs to be a pretty precise fit. AFAIK, this version is painted off-white to match the 70-200 and 400mm lenses, or in black to match the 200mm f/2.8.

- Canon Tripod Mounting Ring B... used on 70-200/2.8, 300/4, 100/2.8 Macro, 180/3.5 Macro, 65mm Macro lenses... is about 9-3/4" inside dia. This is a clamp design that can tolerate a bit of variation in lens barrel diameter. The 100/2.8 Macro uses it with a Delrin liner fitted to that lens' slightly smaller diameter barrel, which is about 9-1/8". When it's fitted to the MP-E 65mm, the lens' barrel is larger diameter so the liner isn't used. The version used on the two macro lenses is painted black, too... The version used on the L-series telephotos is painted off-white to match those lenses.

- I don't have the Canon 70-300mm "L" or 28-300mm "L" lenses, both of which use Canon Tripod Ring C (painted off-white), so I can't measure it's dimensions.

- I also don't have the Canon 100mm f/2.8 "L IS" lens, which uses Canon Tripod Ring D (black), so I can't give you the dimensions of that ring either. Tripod Ring D is another "hinged" type that requires a pretty precise fit.

There are cheaper third party versions of all these Canon tripod rings, which cost a lot less than the OEM versions (typically $150 or more). Be careful though, the really cheap ones - around $25 - are plastic and don't hold up to regular use. The $50 I've seen have been aluminum and are likely more durable, though they didn't seem as nicely finished as the OEM.

All these might be possible to adjust the fit to another lens of slightly smaller diameter if you line them with a couple layers of electricians tape or, if thicker is needed, have a Delrin liner machined for them.

Of the ones I was able to measure, the Tripod Ring B with the Delrin liner sounds like it's pretty close to what you need Bob. That liner is fitted to the Canon lens, with three "tabs" that fit into slots on the lens. But it would probably be possible to remove those tabs and fasten the liner with a double side tape. There are also "nubs" on the outer circumference of the liner that interlock with a slot in the tripod ring, to keep it in place unless it's turned to a specific point to allow the ring to be removed from the lens.
