in this image from Voyager 1 – acquired 30 years ago on February 14, 1990, from a distance slightly past the orbit of Saturn – Planet Earth is visible as a bright speck within the sunbeam, just right of center. Earth appears softly blue. It occupies less than a single pixel in this image

Yes, we are short term inhabitants of a small, delicate and very beautiful planet.

It is amazing how many function as if it is all here for them and that they are the center of the universe. Thanks for the reminder.

This photo was suggested by astrophysicist Carl Sagan, who also works on the Voyager spacecraft that acquired that image. And here is a link to a YouTube video with Carl describing that "Blue Dot".

Our Blue Dot may be insignificant in the overall scheme of things, but it is all we have. Please, take care of it!!!

Thanks for sharing the quote. UHH is the best photo site delivering images from tiny creatures to magnificent landscapes with much to remind us what we treasure. It is a positive beginning toward understanding.

Humans like almost every life form that has graced the face of tbis planet will eventually become extinct. Either by natural means or by our own doing. It is a cycle on this planet that has continued for billions of years.

I saw this image yesterday it was posted in and astronomy website that I get the email from every day.
I believe it’s called earth and sky.
This is an amazing image thanks for sharing it and it’s amazing that the earth can be seen even as tiny as it looks from that distance because Saturn is such a much larger planet to earth.
This is really cool thank you for sharing this.
Bruce.

I would love to know if we are the only planet with intelligent life. The odds are that we are not. But ,at this time, we just don't know.

While I do not have any objection to what you are saying for almost every single person living on earth this IS the center of the universe. Of course many are so self centered they think they personally are the center of everyone else's universe.
