I want to try using fairy lights in images of people. Hoping to get some advice from those with experience in this area as to the best type and make for this purpose. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Hi Liam, long time no see
I found a bunch of fun photos and ideas with a Google search. I know I've seen some shots on UHH, so hopefully those folks will find your request and/or I'll remember who and alert them to your topic.

Thank you, Linda. I did a Google search and found a vast array of options, too. That's why I though UHH would be great for assistance in sorting through the possibilities. Nice to see you, too!
I used them in the past for some close up shots of shells and glass. The lights are very small and do not emit a lot of light. I can see them being used for accent lighting.
Linda from Maine private messaged me.

I did have some shots I did a while ago but now can't find them. It was in my home at Christmas time and I had someone about 6' in front of the Christmas tree. The color lights blurred and made for an interesting shot. You must use a lens that shoots between f/1.2-2.8. I could write more but my memory is not so good on this subject.
I found this YouTube video that has some beautiful portrait shouts using fairy light with a lot of explanations and samples. It was done by Irene Rudnyk who contributes to the UHH once in a while.

Yes, that's the one I remembered! And yet I can't recall what I had for lunch yesterday 🤔

As I mentioned to you in PM. Howdy new member to my club.
Thanks, everyone, appreciate the ideas. Doesn't sound like people are doing much brand comparison, and really, these lights are so inexpensive it may not matter. Really cool shell image NJFrank in your old image. Linda, you are ALWAYS so kind and helpful. What a nice way for people to think of you.
Newbie here - What is a "fairy light"?

They are like Christmas lights, but often quite small. Even better, you can get them on a battery powered string, so you can take them to a location. Google "fairy light photography" and then the Images tab. You will quickly see the charm and allure of this genre.
