In the 707 days of air travel, it was said in some of the photozines of the era that high-frequency vibrations unique to jet aircraft could loosen screws, and do other mysterious things to camera equipment. It didn't seem to be a problem with reciprocating engines. Truth, or Urban Legend?
Is it a problem today?
Just in case, I wrap my equipment in as much vibration dampening stuff...socks, sweatshirts, etc. as I can.

I'm still worried about waking up in a bath tub of ice and having my kidneys removed ....

I was reading photo magazines in those days, and I never heard anything about that, but it seems pretty far-fetched. What would keep these mysterious vibrations from loosening screws on the aircraft itself?

Just a bit of coffee came out of my nose on that one, LOL. That is a very real fear.

As far as air travel and vibrations, it's worth a look into, but I haven't heard any real world issues from the many Navy/commercial pilots I know. My neighbor flies international for a major U.S. airline and I'll be sure to ask him when he gets back from his current trip.

Better to ask an airplane mechanic rather than a pilot...

So pilots don't talk to mechanics? Asking for a friend.

Aircraft actually are subjected to an extreme amount of vibrations and shock. Many essential bolts and screw connections on aircraft are safety wired to prevent loosening due to vibrations. It is a tedious labor-intensive process but a very effective one. "Loctite" or similar products are used on many items also.

I remember when people claimed brain damage from using cell phones. I don't hear those claims any more. I don't believe either sets of claim.

Good answer! I think this bit of info may not have lasted as long as the Bunab.
