Very good shot, Jederick, I hate to say it but Linda's first one is so much better.
B&W is nice also, but I preferred your color pics.

Hi jederick - another take on your shot.

Brightness and contrast sliders work on the entire image equally. Learning the tools for selective editing can be worth the effort. Depending on your software: radial filters, curves, levels, layers and layer masks.
And that was pretty nice, for sure.
I used the common and very good Irfan View.
On my DPP4, I could have worked on the
graph curve. OTOH, I prefer to keep it simple,
but admire the commitment of those who can
understand those hieroglyphic icons on the buttons.

Great photo in color and B&W, Jim. Thanks for offering it up for edits. For me the winner is Linda's first one.

I agree with you Earnest...I have a difficult time getting B&W to "pop" and only rarely give it a try.

Me too Hereford...B&W is hard for me to get good results...oh well!!
This is the best I've seen, Delderby and even nicer than the original color version...you do very good work!! Thanks for sharing with us!!

Thanks and you're welcome, John. Linda always does excellent work and I appreciate her efforts with my photo!!
What a great capture. The Leica lens is incredibly sharp. Even for me, who likes dark B&W, the original image is too dark. Linda's first mod perfect, except by replacing the sky, she has removed the clouds which IMHO somehow flattens the image.

In light of what you say I have to admit that this pic is the result of using SmartEdit's "Effects Gallery" plus small adjustments by yours truly. The gallery also has quite a few interesting B&W possibilities.
Definately would have more pizzazz with more light, to highlight the features of the wood siding and possibly other aspects too.
Very nice Jederick and don't see many around here. There was a little train stop off station that I should have taken an image of about 35-40 years ago, but too late now.
