PSE v9.0 Question

I had about 30 .jpeg images of my gradson playing ball. All were a little dark. I brought each one up and adjusted it to the same levels.

Was there a way in PSE that I could have grouped them as one and applied the same adjustment to them all at once ?? I couldn't find it ....

This is what I used x's 30..........Enhance > Adjust Brightness > Levels. Moved slide to same values on each image.

Yes, PSE has a batch-processing feature. In the Full Editor go to File>Process Multiple Files. Here are some instructions.

That didn't answer the question. Looks like all PSE will do is auto adjusts in batch mode. Do we have to have full PS custom batch processing?

You could... but not the adjustment you wanted to make. If Auto adjustments work for your images, yes, you can batch-process that. If you want full control, I'm afraid you'd have to do it yourself.

I have a similiar problem: Our daughter-in-law had her camera set to Fluorescent lights for white balance - and took pictures in bright sunlight. They all have a heavy blue cast. Easy enough to fix by opening them as Camera Raw images, but I have to do each one separately. On the bright side, it gives me the chance to also have a good look at the full size image, and throw away the ones that are blurred, or have people's heads chopped off, or....

Another good reason to upgrade to CS5/6. You can edit jpgs in CS5/6's Adobe Camera Raw (ACR). You can make those adjustments to all your images at the same time or do one and then sync the others to the first. Then you can open the image in CS5/6's Photoshop editor and save them again for the changes to become permanent. An Action can be created to perform this with one click of a button.

For the number of times I would use it, I don't the return on investment to upgrade from a $79 PSE v9 to full blown CS/5/6.

I quite agree. The Batch Processing feature in Photoshop Elements has some limitations. It only offers access to some Auto commands.

There is a possible workaround to address GC likes NIKON's question below. It is not really batch processing and it is not as fast. However, it is still faster than trying to edit each and every image from scratch. One thing though -- you cannot use the Enhance command; you need to use an Adjustment layer.

Here it goes:

1. Open the images you want to apply an adjustment to (for example, a Levels adjustment).

2. Apply an Adjustment layer to one image.

3. Drag this Adjustment layer from this image onto each one of the other images. The adjustment will be applied to each of these images at the same settings.
