Hi all. My name is Jim and I’m pretty new to photography. My wife and I are taking a cruise to see the fjords in Norway this summer so I wanted to learn some new photography skills to better capture the memories. I recently purchased an Olympus OMD EM10 MK3, 14-42 kit lens, 40-150 kit, and also 14-150 zoom (kit). I’ve been using the zoom for the majority of my pictures as I don’t have to swap lenses out when walking around. I’m really excited to learn more and have been enjoying trying out different techniques. Would love to meet up with anyone in the region for some photography shoots! :)

Here are some pictures from some recent trips to Gettysburg, Maine, and Washington D.C.:

Welcome aboard Jim. Your images are excellent by eliminating and zooming in on what is important. Color and composition is very good.

Thanks! Our first stop is actually Copenhagen. I'll definitely be buying more SD cards.

Remember K.I.S.S.,= ( keep it Simple Silly.)
The more you take, the more you might lose.
The 14-140 lens sounds reasonable, cover many situations, depending on the Aperture range of this Lens. I am guessing it is Not a really "Fast" Lens. So, if true you must compensate with Higher ISO, a Lower Shutter-Speed, or a combination of both. Other's here may add to my suggestions and advice.
You might consider a 50mm Prime lens for your camera.
Your photos are very nice, keep striving to improve your Photography, many here at UHH will provide you will Excellent suggestions and and helpful advice. Hope you have a great vacation.

It's definitely not a fast lens. I got it mostly so I could travel light when I'm walking around the different locations on our trip. It has good range so I won't have to change lenses. I'll practice with the compensation before we leave so I'm ready. Getting a good Prime is on the list when the budget allows. Thanks for the advice!

I have a Nikon 18-140mm 3.5-5.6 Lens and have enjoyed it.
I am pursuing "Landscape Photography", and just purchased a Refurbished Nikon 10-20mm 4.5-5.6 wide angle lens from Adorama for $215.00 & free shipping, not fast, so I suspect I will be using higher ISO at times, or Slower Shutter-Speed on my Tripod, in low light situations.
