Today let's remember what happened 11 years ago today. What does it mean to you?
It means the terrorists won. Cynical politicians in this country used their act to systematically strip Americans of their rights by inspiring fear in their fellow countrymens' hearts. We go through machines that make our sisters, wives and daughters nude for strangers just to get on an airplane and we are silent about it. We take off our shoes and do other things that have absolutely no security value in order that we think our government is actually DOING something.
We are incredibly in debt over the useless wars moronic and manipulative politicians started on pretext. Our country's decline had started sometime before, but it began a historic slide on that day. Had we reacted like adults, and with some intelligence, America would be the preeminent country in the world today.
I was in New York City the weekend before. Took some friends out for dinner the Saturday night before and then went to the Windows on the World afterwards for drinks. Came home that Sunday.
I was at work that day in England working for an American company and televisions were on in offices on site, I watched the replays of the planes hitting the skyscrapers and didnt believe what i was watching,at a later date not only our factory but all the factories around us took part in the two minutes silence when the American flag was lowered in remembrance.
I was at home and got a phone call from a relative telling me to turn on the tv.

That was the day I knew my oldest son was going off to war. I did not know when, or where, but I knew it would happen. In 2003 he did go to Iraq, returned safely.
