Decals
Anybody have any advice on putting a small decal on the rear window of an automobile. In the past I have had trouble with getting decals on smooth without wrinkles?

Start at one edge, "roll" it on using light pressure on a squeegee???

Get it perfectly aligned. Then apply a narrow edge to the glass with the backing peeled back. Right or left doesn’t matter. Then slowly peel away the backing allowing the decal to settle on the glass. Make certain the glass is perfectly clean before starting. Immediately rub it with a thick cloth pushing out any small bubbles/imperfections.

BUT only rub/push the cloth in one direction

Soapy water spray and then apply decal ,water will allow you to move decal ,once in position squeegee the water out from the decal working out from the centre

If there is text in the decal I print it in reverse and apply inside

It depends if the decal has an adhesive on it or not. The decals I put on one car had an adhesive backing.

How about using some heat to allow it to stretch a bit? You can get sticky vinyl sheets from Amazon and print on them. If you mess up applying one, just print another.

Use a light mix of water with 1-2 drops of dish detergent. Lightly wet the glass and back side of the decal. You can then place the decal on the window, position move it till you are happy and then gently use a crdit card or something to smooth out the bubbles without getting wrinkles.
This is the trick sign installers use to not get wrinkles or bubbles. I have been in the sign business 12 years +

I'd still go with rolling it from one edge and either light pressure from a squeegee or a rag like a terrycloth towel, slowly. Rolling it will prevent any air, or at least the majority, to collect.
Placing it "square on" will give you more chances of bubbles.
If you wind up with a bubble, you can always use a straight pin to pierce the bubble (THIN prick) and work the air out. Massaging with a soft towel would get some adhesive to cover the hole to help close it up.

Do NOT overlap the rear window defroster wires.
