I was in Ephrata, PA yesterday to see a female Great Horned Owl which has been brooding since January 27. Babies are expected in in first week of March. I’ll be returning at least twice. The tree is across the stream that is shown below. The tree is alive and has a very large cavity and the Owls return every year at this time. The male was not seen while I was there. The owl yawned once but I missed the shot!

Love photo's that express the camouflage ability of animals. Your first photo does that exceedingly well. I have a picture of a yellow finch eating seeds on a yellow sunflower and he is almost invisible. Who'da thunk a bright yellow bird was in camo?

What a fantastic opportunity to watch this nest. I love the first shot especially.
I’m looking forward to seeing more of the family pictures later.

Thank you Larry. It's about an hour drive - I'll get out there at end of February and then every week or so as the chicks grow - will be posting.

Thanks so much. The spot isn't well known except by the locals - there were two photographers there when I arrived.

When she looked at her eggs and then back, her back feathers shown which is what is captured in #3. That really shows the camo. When I got there I couldn't see her until I looked through my lens!
