Some of the ducks we see around my area during the winter months. Many are migrants. All photographed in the wild.

Thanks for posting these wonderful images. It opens my eyes to the world. I know we have many ducks in the US but I never think about there being ducks in many other countries. You have helped me learn.

As usual, wonderful photos of terrific birds. The last shot, of the fighting Whistling Teal, if truly memorable. You have very good DOF on a number of these shots, especially the shots of multiple ducks. Because the birds are in flight/motion you had to preset your f/stop. What is your go to f/stop in these good light situations.

Hello there, thank you for your comments and pleased that you enjoyed the duck images.

With respect to your question, I only ever shoot in Manual mode, Shutter speed is selected according to what the bird is doing, if its flying, the speeds required are obviously higher, the ISO is set to as low as I can possibly get away with and I set the aperture dependent upon the dof the image demands, if the subject is a distance away, I will try and keep my aperture as open as possible to eliminate as much background as possible, while still taking advantage of the increase in depth of field as the distance to the subject increases. I hope I have managed to answer your question to your satisfaction.
