infrared conversions

Has anybody here ever had a camera converted to infrared by Life Pixel? I have a D70 that I have used for infrared but want to be able to shoot it without external filters. Anybody who has done this knows why. Since the D70 is my third body I don't really need it anymore but before dumping $250 into it I was curious if anybody has experience with this with Life Pixel.

LifePixel converted my D70 in January. Go to the website to decide on the color filter options. If you have the Nikkor 18-70 lens it is calibrated for that lens without sending in the lens with the camera. It is such a pleasure to be shooting IR and composing during the shot instead of before you put on the extenral IR filter. And I can now shoot handheld. I wrote three articles for the Ultimate Photo Guide website on IR if you are interested.

Thanks profpb, off the camera goes this afternoon. I will also be using my 18-70 for infrared. I no longer use it but it is a wonderful lens, I can't believe Nikon sold it as a kit lens. I only have to choose which filter I am going to have installed. Enjoyed your articles, keep up the good work

I had my camera also a D70 converted by Life Pixel. It was fine. I used the standard filter i.e. 720. Vincent Versace who gave a workshop in black and white (at B&H) and shoots in infrared recommends the enhanced color filter. In short there is more info to convert to b&w. Also if you shoot in raw it's best to use nikon softwareNX2 or view to convert the raw file.
I love IR and just bought a new camera to convert to IR.
By the way Life Pixel charges extra to convert using enhanced color filters other companies charge the same for all filter conversions.
