...and a quack quack there...but not from these guys. They're Black-bellied Whistling ducks and sound like songbirds as they fly overhead. Tamron 150-600 at 600mm. Please try the downloads for better clarity.

They have so much going for them. Nice work Donna! This is a duck that has been on my life list since I was a teenager....but I have never succeeded in photographing one. You caught these guys in the great light they deserve, very cool.

Comical looking, but sounds like they are much sought by photographers and birders. Fantastic photos, Donna. Thanks for a delightful series!

Thank you so much, Phil! According to my field guide, they're not in our area at any time, but they must be expanding their range, because we're seeing them year round on the bay. I'm so glad to finally get to see them, and I hope you'll soon have them close by to add to your life list. If not, though, we'd love to have you visit.

And thank you, Linda, for your lovely comment! They're delightful birds indeed and put on quite a show not to mention the pretty whistles they make.

These are truly excellent shots, Donna. The ducks are nicely lighted and the soft backgrounds put all the attention on the lovely ducks!

Some pretty neat quack quack's. Your Good. Like that you like really know what they are. When I went to Duck identification class they never mentioned these but I do know Mergansers and puddle ducks :( Your artistry is always so good. I suppose you also did this hand held :) I'll just keep working at it. thanks and enjoy the day.

LOL You're a delight, Frankie, and I'm so glad you enjoyed these quacks. I'll bet you graduated from Duck ID at the top of your class. By the way, these ducks are not supposed to be in Alabama, but somebody forgot to tell them that. They ARE supposed to be in your area though, so Duck ID class should add them to the list. Thanks so much, Frankie. You always make my day.
