Several recent posts of steam locomotives reminded me of an unusual one on display near the iron range in Minnesota.

Nice photograph, but the DMIR 2-6-6-2 was one of their standard locomotives and is not considered unusual unless you consider all articulated and Mallet locomotives unusual.

DM&IR No. 225 is a class M-3 2-8-8-4 "Yellowstone" type steam locomotive currently on static display at Charles E. Carlson Park.

Any steam locomotive that is STILL in one piece......IS considered unusual.....

If not, it could be turned with a Wye track.
