This is my preserved Asian Beetle. They like to dine on the leaves of the vines along our fence with their friends the Japanese Beetles.

I staged it for a focus stacking session using the reverse mounted 28mm lens mounted onto a reversed mounted magnifying lens and bellows to dial in the amount of magnification required to get the subject to fill the view of the camera. Illumination was my goto constant LED lighting diffused with translucent drink cups and white paper towel.

This is a 271 stack of images processed into one with Zerene Stacker using PMax method.

As always, thanks ever so much to all who view and for your comments, suggestions, questions and critique.

I am a real fan of yours and love your work. Most of what I see of your postings are insects. Here in east Texas we have problem with sand burrs, also known as goat heads, etc. It seems to me that a focus stacked picture of one these grass seeds with it's protective covering would be very interesting. This is just a thought, keep your super work coming.

Thanks for viewing and for the kind and encouraging words. Here's a burr that I posted in November and it is one that I would not want to step on barefoot..!

Sippy, you made my day. Super shot of a mean burr. Somehow they get tracked into the house and one of the grandkids ends up with them in their feet. Not fun. I should have known that you already had a great shot of one. Thanks
