What lens is it, a 1:2 semi macro? What's the speed of it?

This is the Pentax A 50mm 1:2.

I believe it can be classified as a semi macro. I checked the specs, the minimum focus distance is 45 centimeters or about .18 of an inch.

I am not sure what you mean by speed. The largest aperture is F2. I believe that this is considered to a fast lens. The minimum aperture is F22.

It has an aperture ring with and A setting. It is a Super Multi Coated lens (SMC).

According to the specs the image format is both a full frame lens and a 35mm lens.

There are several equivalent lenses available on ebay for under $50.00. Also 45cm is actually about 18 inches, not .18 inch and there are faster lenses at 1:1.8, 1:1.7 and 1:1.4. If this was a 1.4 it may go for $100.00 or more.

Sentinel4, in this type of nomenclature, Pentax A 50mm 1:2, the 1:2 indicates the maximum aperture for the lens. I’ve never seen a lens focus marked in cm on the metric distance reading. They usually show distances shorter than a meter in tenths of a meter. Why don’t you post some pictures so we can examine the lens a bit closer. The Pentax-A 50mm 1:2 lens is actually pretty common - I see them going for less $25 all the time on auction sites.

You can just google Pentax A 50mm 1:2 and you will find many at about $600. If you can buy one at $25 go for it. I would buy several at that price myself. Thanks.

Here is another link for the lens showing an average price of $32.53 and it is on a Pentax site. Base on that alone I would say your price is a wee bit high.

Best of luck. If you had a 50mm 1:1.2 or 1:1.4 I might be interested, but only if the price was lower.

The Pentax A 50mm f/1.2 can go for $600 if it is pristine, but a f/2 is about $50 or less. I have the 1.4 version of that lens that I paid about $100 for and a K mount, the earlier version of the 1.2 with the same optical formula that I paid about $400 for.

You have mistaken your lens for something that it is not, here is an eBay search on the 1:2 version of that lens they sell between $25 and $35.

Actually there is NO difference. The lens is both, 50mm 1:2 and a 50mm/f2.0. The f2.0 is only one wy of describing the largest aperture of the lens, as is the 1:2. The 1:2 is a mathmatical expression describing the ratio of the focal length of the lens to the diameter of the largest aperture opening of the lens. Maybe an easier explanation is that it indicates the lens focal length is twice the diameter of the aperture diameter.

One refers to the magnification ability of a lens, the other tells about how fast the lens is! Totally different things!
