But it's still less than half the calories, fat, and sodium as their real fried chicken, although only half the protein. And of course, no animal cruelty. People like fried foods, it's nice to have a healthier version.

Why not just batter and deep fry some cardboard.

A pretty silly response.

As a diabetic I've learned that anything fried is among the worst things you can eat. Chicken? I eat all kinds of chicken....but not fried.

I am a diabetic, and I eat fried food in moderation. For me, largely cutting sugar out of my diet, exercise, and a metformin prescription, has kept my A1C in the high 5s.

I'm a little worse off than you. After 35 years I'm on insulin and Trulicity. My last A1c was 6.8 but my creatinine has remained stable. I did have a 5.9 once but my doctor said it was too low, since I was on insulin (she didn't like the idea of low blood sugars using insuline...too dangerous).

I avoid potato chips, white potatos of any kind, fried foods, and count my carbs, although that doesn't mean that I don't have my treats. My goal is to never go on dialysis. As far as fried foods go, I do find that they spike my glucose. It's why I can't have KFC. I used to have it, but the next day my glucose level would be much too high, so I stopped having it.

What does fat intake have anything to do with diabetes? I'm a diabetic also. Not all fat is bad. Avocado, olive , and coconut oils are very healthy and can be used for frying. They actually reduce coronary problems.

But fat has everything to do with heart disease, and coconut oil is by far the worst oil you could pick in terms of saturated fats:https://www.thespruceeats.com/all-about-fats-995463

Believe me, after 2 MIs, (first caused by high cholesterol), fats are something I pay a LOT of attention to.

There is no such thing as meatless chicken. It might be some kind of manufacture glop, probably full of some kind of chemicals to give it some taste, but it isn’t chicken. People who sell this--whatever it is--should be forced to tell the truth about their products. End of story.

OK, I’ll get off my soapbox now.

Side question: Does anyone really know what the A the 1, and the C stand for? I know what the conglomerate means, but what do the individual characters stand for?
