Well done and a telling series. I like that bank building in particular.

Thank you, Carol and a sad tale it is of a once proud town. That bank building smacks of old west living!!

Hey, good morning Cany!! We are in the midst of a record snowstorm her in the Salt Lake Valley...most one day snow since sometime back in the 30's! I'm getting ready to go out and blow snow which is over a foot in my driveway...I'll take some photos.

You know, in a way I feel bad posting these photos of a decaying town, and almost didn't. I've taken the same photos numerous times on trips through G.R. and have never posted them. Don't know why I did this time although, perversely, I find them attractive and symbolic of so many of the dying rural towns here in the west. Kinda feel like I've been on a "Life Magazine" assignment when I get home and look at them.

And in my defense, we almost always stop at Ray's Tavern for their mouth watering cheeseburgers, fries and a brewski...so I leave a little coin it the city's coffers!!

Yup, snowing here (again!) in Mobe, too. But DO NOT feel bad about having posted these, or any like them. 'Life Magazine' would never have been what it was without the photojournalists who got out there and did what they --and you-- did, and if you kinda feel like you've been on assignment, all the better.

Personally, I cannot remember any time I've passed through --or even near, when on the interstate-- G.R. when I haven't made the stop for a beer and a burger at Ray's. I mean, some things are sacred!

Green River is a sleepy little travel stop along I-70 best known for their famous watermelons and a Green River rafting destination. Their are a couple of truck stops on both ends of town and, actually, a couple of nice motels, restaurants and museum. Most of the town however, seems to have been locked in a time-warp of sorts as highway traffic passes it by.

Great set of images jederick

A great set, jederick. As sad as it is to see towns die, I very much enjoyed your photos.

Love the bank shots with the swamp cooler. It would be better without the utility pole. These shots could all have been made somewhere in West Texas.
Thanks for the nice photos.
Off on a 400 mile round trip in Texas today. Just might shot a photo or two.
