28 straight days of rain in Seattle has resulted in this sort of nonsense. I purchased a set of Hollywood dominoes at a thrift store and arrayed them randomly in a square on a small folding table. I then stood on a chair, positioned myself over them from above and took some shots. I needed more light so used the camera's flash. The first image is the result of the shot. The second is what I did with it afterwords in Photoshop. Just killing time waiting for the sun to make an appearance. Nikon D810 and a Tamron 70x200MM, f/2.8 lens. Let me know what you think.
Thanks Bob. The first one is mostly a "for your information" shot so you can see what I started with.
Interesting what plain old boredom will pry loose! Very nice!
I think its what is called creativity. Nice work.
Thanks for taking a look guys. This has been a tough winter for me and it's not over yet.

I like it, but why does it remind me of Las Vegas. Your picture is proof that there are images everywhere if we just learn to see them. Nice Job.
I love your altered reality shot!
Thanks to both of you and "yes" it is a lot like a roulette wheel gone wild. I hadn't thought of that.

Fascinating. Can you share the steps you followed in post?

It's top secret. Just kidding. Photoshop CC was used. I actually had all the steps laid out by photo (six in total) but felt you folks would get bored before you got to the final image. First, I got rid of the border on the first photo and made it black (I used a mask but there are many ways to do that). Then I changed the image from 16 bits to 8 bits (a necessary step to use the Photoshop filters). In succession, I used the pinch and spherize filters from the drop down "distort" menu at 100% in each direction, saving each separate image. Then I placed each of those four images side by side in a square on a new all black file and cropped around it (see attached). The final step was to use the polar coordinates filter (also found in the "distort" menu under filters) in the polar to rectangular configuration. Thanks a lot for your interest.
