We had several land tours in Antarctica and were able to see many of the penguin species that I had only seen on documentaries. We found it amazing that the sounds and smells were so different in each of the colonies. The scientists on board our ship were quick to point out that the smells were different because of the different levels of the ocean that each of them feeds, even thought they eat the same things. And the sounds? Well, they’re birds and as birds everywhere are, they all have a different call.
I have a few shots to share here that seemed special to me. Since this is Antarctic penguins, the Macaroni's and King's will be posted later. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Another tidbit of info was the fact that they have the bone structure of a bird. The breast bone and wishbone is just the same as birds that fly in air. These guys just fly in water. But they jump into the air like little rockets.
A great series and information.
