Great trip to the Big Island two weeks ago. Still working through a lot of pictures. These are from a Whale Watching expedition out of Kona. Saw nothing for about 2 hours and then a pair (likely mom and a youngster) popped up close to our boat.
Found it to be quite a challenge to keep the target centered and focus with the boat bouncing about.
Nikon D850, Nikkor 200-500 f/5.6.

Excellent and exciting series!
How exciting of a whale watch that must of been. The buildings distract somewhat that is why I really like the last one. Very nice work.

Thanks everyone. If anyone has any processing recommendations, please critique or process to your liking and post. Very open to learning new things and techniques. These were processed using Lightroom, mostly adding contrast, boosting shadows and very slight noise reduction.

We can't help the location when shooting wild life, but neat, exciting, and well done photos. I like the first one, due to the mouth area being visible. For some strange reason, they just don't cooperate and pose when/where we want, lol.
Lucky you! Great opportunity and so well captured! I’m very jealous! Thanks for sharing those great images!
