I bought my 1st DSLR last December. Soon thereafter I discovered HDR. I bought Photomatix Pro 4, PS Elements 10 and all the Topaz Lab plugins. I've been working on my processing since the beginning.

This summer we took our motorhome to Long Island, NY. I had just purchased a Nikkor 10-24mm zoom and wanted to play. The image below is one result of playtime.

Now be warned ...I tend to add a tad more color saturation than some purists like. But, I like it! I hope you folks do to.

Having said that, I'm open to any constructive comments. It helps me learn.

The image is formatted (sized) to be printed on glass from Fracture, an advertiser on this forum, is a small Jpeg. The Tiff is 40mb+.

I love it, you did a great job. I guess I'm going to have to get out and shoot some more HDR when I get some time.

Thanks, MadMike! You should get out and shoot more ...we all should. Composing images, shooting and digital processing helps, I believe, to keep our old fart minds alert and active.

Very nice image, a perfect subject for HDR. And I agree in this case you certainly have not overdone the colours. Couple of things. The sky is a little noisy so I think a little Topaz denoise but probably the sky only. Secondly it probably needs a touch of sharpening, the HDR processing does tend to soften slightly. And a question. Is the outline in the base of the statue a reflection of you with the sky behind you. Personally I find it distracting but it may be have what you intended in which case I will retract my comment. BUT and this is a big BUT. These are minor quibbles. Its a pick i would have been happy to have produced myself.

Me an old fart.... perish the thought.

Keep them coming.

Peter, by "old fart" I was referring ONLY to myself, of course.

I'll revisit the sky in this image (I used 5 separate masks, including the sky).

You are correct. That's yours truly in silouette as seen on the statue case. The base is a separate mask element but I couldn't figure out how to remove me and the sky without doing damage to the lettering.

Was this a process of 3 photos or just one? It's very nice I like all the deep color.

Love it! In 2 minds about the flowers at the front. I would do away with the man's reflection.

Very nice shot and processing ... and, in my opinion, a good example of a situation where breaking the "rule of thirds" is probably the best option. Sometimes symmetry in composition is a great choice. This also has some interesting elements to bring your attention to the statue ... the way the benhes are oriented, and even the cloud formations.

Nicely done, not overprocessed at all. Compositions wise it's a great setup. My only critique is the amount of "color noise" in the sky and the reflection on the base of the statue. Also, if it were me, I would crop out the red flowers on the bottom or I might have stepped back just a bit more to allow more of the flowers in the fram.

The sky noise and statue reflection are two issues I'm still learning how to correct.
