Photography is a microcosm of life, you will regret turning your back on something that you love.

I'm a former Nikon D7000 user, I moved to the Fuji X-T1 when it first came out. I'm now using the X-Fuji X-Fuji X-T3. The improvements in high ISO low noise is amazing, fast focus in boost mode. I'd suggest renting one and give it a workout.

Friends... I'm an avid 75-year-old enthusiast, not interested in highly technical answers to this. I love shooting with my Nikon d7200, but got caught up in Fuji world. I have no trouble with my Nikon, but find Fuji a bit difficult to use. I know I know, stick with the one I love, but I do like the size of the Fuji stuff (xT3 & x100f). Your thoughts?

"... stick with the one I love..." Very good advice. After hearing comments here are reading reviews, I bought a Fuji X-T30. Great little camera - no problems. I still prefer shooting with my Nikon D750 or D5300, though. If you spend enough time with a Fuji or a Sony, and you read articles and watch YouTube, you will become comfortable with a different brand of camera, but it takes time and effort. I got the Fuji for when I need a smaller camera.

IAm 76andsold my d500 and all Nikon equipment lastyear and moved to the xt3. Iwasn’t unhappy With my photos but thit came down tobulk and weight. The transition to Fuji was easy.i love the size and old style . it was a good move for me however I suggest visiting your local camera store before you make a decision

My 7200 NIKON I won’t give up due to the long lenses I have for it. But once I bought a Fuji, I find its always the one I grab for those quick shots I need. Parties and family gatherings always demand the Fuji. The sharpness is second to none. They just are pure !! I just have to have them both to keep me happy.

I too have the D7200 (and plenty happy with it) but after going to the PhotoPlus show last October, I too am mesmerized by the offerings of both Olympus and Fuji, as well as the Z line. I am just waiting to see what Nikon offers this year especially in the mirrorless department. One advantage with sticking with the Z line is the menus will be more familiar....have you checked the Z50 it is also very compact with nice kit lenses? Seems like it makes a nice travel camera.

Regarding Fuji, I do very much like the classic look and build quality...and it does have film simulation modes for those who remember what film was like....the forthcoming X200 looks like a great buy but switching systems also means a new lens lineup (to get maximum benefits such as stabilization)...you can adapt your Nikon lenses in manual focus mode. And of course there will be the learning curve...but I often find that part interesting and fun.

The grass is always greener on the other side as they say, especially when you have GAS.

I switched after many years with Nikon to the X-T2 and X100F and love both cameras. I love the the way they look, feel and the quality of the pictures they take. It has made photography fun again.

I tried a Sony a few years ago (NEX 7). Although I loved the hardware I could not get used to their menu approach. I got rid of it in less than a year and went back to a Nikon APS-C (now D5600). Love it.

Got a Panasonic Lumix GM5 for my small camera. Love it too. Somehow their different manu approach works for me.

I love my Nikons, (D500, D7200), but my Lumix G9 has become the camera I use the most. The menus are extensive but straightforward. And I don’t think anybody gets the ergonomics better than Panasonic. Once you get everything set up it’s all at your fingertips. I only use the menu for special features, like in camera HDR or pixel shifting.

I don’t think you will be nearly as happy with Fuji as you are with Nikon. I don’t think you want to get involved with a foreign country unless you have to. always remember let’s keep America Great.

What do you find difficult about the Fuji? I find it much EASIER to use. I gave my Nikon 5500 away because every time I wanted to change a setting, I had to go to the menu or the touchscreen and fiddle with them. With Fuji i turned a dial ISO was on the left, shutter and comp on the right, and the aperture on the lens. Direct real manual control of the exposure triad. Focusing aid of the blue outline gives you simple manual focus if you turn off AF. Or you can turn everything to auto and have a point and shoot. What could be simpler?

If you are familiar with the excellent Nikon menu setup try a Z50. I've had a few Fuji bodies (XT2, XT3 & XT20) and keep going back to Nikon only because of the menu system familiarity.
The Nikon Z6 has IBIS while the Z50 does not but works well with the Z50 kit lenses that have VR.
Try to go to a shop and get the feel of them. Fuji & Nikon are both excellent systems.
I also like the Z50 popup flash for situations with low light.
Best Buy has them which are in most areas to get a hands on feel before buying where you want.
